The Governing Council of SASMIRA consists of 20 elected members from Industry, including President and Vice President and 4 nominated members from various departments of Government of India. Every year the Council members elect the President and Vice-President of the Association.

The Association has at present a total membership of 80 units spread all over India. This consists of 58 ordinary members, 20 associate members and 2 individual associate members.

The Director is the overall incharge of all the executive functions of the organisation.
