The
Institute has been awarded progressive academic autonomy
commencing from the year 1996-97. Accordingly the Diploma
programmes of the Institute enjoy academic freedom empowering
each to experiment, innovate design and develop its
own curriculum in order to keep pace with the industrial
and technological development. Multi point entry and
credit system which have maximum flexibility in academic
programmes are also introduced.

Sasmira
has instituted various merit awards/scholarship and
freeships for the benefit of the students undergoing
training in the Sasmira's Institute of Man-made Textiles.
- Merit
Awards/Scholarships : 27 Nos.
- Freeships
: 13 Nos.
In
addition to these stipends and freeships to the wards
of primary school teachers, backward class (economically
and socially) freeships, concession to the children
of freedom fighters, ex-servicemens, etc.are also awarded.

Assistance |

Sasmira
holds close interaction with leading textile industries
and ensures suitable placement for the pass out students.
Special orientation programme for enterpreneurship development
amongst the students are organised through seminars
and guest lectures from the experts in the field. A
separate subject viz. "Enterpreneurship Development"
has been introduced in the final year of the Diploma
courses for this purpose.
