About COE-Agrotech

Since long SASMIRA has been actively involved in the development and promotion of Technical Textiles especially Agrotextiles. Growing population and decreasing natural resources like land and water etc. has warranted change in traditional ways of cultivation. Textiles can be developed to provide plant suitable microclimate, having potential to mitigate the adverse climatic conditions upto some extent. These special textiles are suitable for agricultural application. These are termed as Agrotextiles. Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India has recognized the need of Agrotextile in present scenario and designated SASMIRA along-with Navsari Agriculture University, MANTRA-Surat and IIT Delhi as a knowledge partner as a Center of Excellence for Agrotech in the year 2008. Encouraging usage of Agrotextiles to increase Horticultural/Agricultural productivity with improved produce quality in India is the far-reaching goal of COE-Agrotech. Today COE is one stop solution to all the stake holders right from the Agrotextile user to the manufacture.
